A War-Ravaged Country Needs A Miracle !
AMERICAN CHILDREN & STUDENTS APPEAL FOR
WAR-TORN CONGO' S FORGOTTEN CHILDREN & STUDENTS.

ABC NEWS TED KOPPEL reported from the Congo: "The Congolese population has been largely abandoned to struggle for their own survival". The UK-BASED ORGANIZATION OXFAM has also observed that "The Democratic Republic of the Congo Remains a Forgotten Emergency."

Do You Know…

• That the War that has involved six countries since 1998 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa has lasted over 5 years? And as eloquently expressed by The United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF, "the War in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been one of the bloodiest conflicts known since the Second World War"? It has exerted profound social consequences-- killing nearly 4 millions people, halting the formal economy and crippling social services?
• That in the US, for example, one Medical Doctor oversees roughly 400 people, but the proportion in the Congo is 1 Medical Doctor to 18,000 people, which means, about 3,000 doctors for 55 million people? Only 1/4 of the Congolese people have access to basic health services?
• That for millions of Congolese, access to education remains limited and resources are scarce? Most Schools are partially or totally closed because they lack the most basic material and money to support faculty and underprivileged students, or to educate train badly needed future physicians ?
• That the Universite Franco-Americaine de Kinshasa supported by the American University of Kinshasa Foundationhas been closed for nearly two years due to the war and the extended humanitarian crisis? A Central Challenge facing the University officials is coping with exploding demand by new students and those who had their education interrupted by the war. A shortage of cash to pay for classroom buildings, faculty and help students in desperate need ?

We ask you to urge your friends to send the same message, in turn, to their friends, so that the message continues to spread to as many children, students and parents as possible. We hope, this way, to advance the consciousness about the War-shattered Congo's Forgotten Children and Studentsand bring classroom to life again !

It's clear that a crisis of this magnitude requires a massive response. The Ravaged Country needs a Miracle ! The task of rebuilding an eduction system shattered by years of war is urgent. We cannot risk leavingthis youth of the war out of school. We hope you'll join this fundraising initiative that has started by a student study group at Framingham College in Massachusetts. Since the fundraising drive started, the response we have received has been heartening. Please do your part !
